Gloria Jean Castaneda, 72, of Naalehu, died Sept. 24 at Ka’u Hospital. Born April 17, 1940, in Hilo, she was a homemaker and Naalehu Sacred Heart Catholic Church member.

Friends may call Oct. 6 at Naalehu Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where visitation will take place from 8 to 10 a.m. and Mass begins at 10 a.m. Burial will occur at Naalehu Community Cemetery and there will be a luncheon at Church Hall. The family requests casual attire be worn and flowers are welcome.
She is survived by daughters, Chrissie Ann C-Mejia of Greensands Subdivision, Leonora (Bernard) Hu of Naalehu, Laura Lee (Nolen) Kahulamu of Kailua-Kona; son, Oscar M. Castaneda of Greensands Subdivision; brothers, Philemon (Sheila) Pilanca, David (Shirley) Pelangka of Kaneohe, Vicente (Betty) Pelanca Jr. of Hilo; eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
